Also present at today’s meeting were the Rt Hon Alex Salmond MP MSP, First Minister of Scotland, and Ignacio Galán, Chairman of Iberdrola and ScottishPower.

First Major Wind Project Approved By New Scottish Government

ScottishPower was today granted final planning consent by the new Scottish Government for Harestanes windfarm, a project of up to 213 MW capacity in Dumfries and Galloway. The £200 million, 71 turbine project will provide enough green energy for approximately 120,000 homes.

ScottishPower Announces UK's Largest Energy Crop Plan

ScottishPower is looking to contract Scottish farmers to produce 250,000 tonnes of energy crops to be burned at Scotland’s two coal fired power stations, Cockenzie and Longannet. The energy crop will displace coal burned in the stations.

ScottishPower Joins European Energy Derivatives Exchange

ScottishPower today (26 June 2007) announced that it has joined the ENDEX European Energy Derivatives Exchange in order to trade Natural Gas at the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) Trading Hub in the Netherlands. The volume and value of trades at the Dutch hub have increased steadily since it was founded in 2004 and it is now considered one of the key traded gas markets in Europe.

The Boards of IBERDROLA and US company Energy East, meeting today in Madrid and New York, respectively, have agreed on the integration of Energy East in the Group IBERDROLA, whereby IBERDROLA will acquire 100% of Energy East. The Board of IBERDROLA has unanimously endorsed the proposal of its Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Galán, to make an offer for the US utility, immediately approved afterwards by Energy East’s Board.

Scottish Power Announces Intent to Delist and Deregister Debt Securities

ScottishPower announced today that it has notified the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”) of its intention to voluntarily delist the following series of its guaranteed debt securities, which are currently listed on the NYSE: (i) 4.910% notes due 2010 in the aggregate principal amount of $550 million; (ii) 5.375% notes due 2015 in the aggregate principal amount of $600 million; and (iii) 5.810% notes due 2025 in the aggregate principal amount of $350 million (collectively, the “Notes”), as well as to terminate the registration of the Notes and the reporting obligations of ScottishPower under the U.S. Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended (the “Exchange Act”).
