Iberdrola Group Operating Earnings Rose 11.7% To €3,835.6 Million In First Half 2010

IBERDROLA recorded gross operating profit (Ebitda) of €3,835.6 million in the first half of 2010, a rise of 11.7%. Diversification enabled the Group to balance unequal performance across markets, with improved Ebitda in all markets and gross margin in all businesses.

Students From Glasgow and Edinburgh Receive Scholarships From The Iberdrola Foundation

The Iberdrola Foundation has presented 38 scholarships for postgraduate studies in Energy and Environment, following the first round of scholarships to be offered by the body. Two students from the University of Edinburgh and one from the University of Strathclyde were amongst those to receive a scholarship. The successful students will enjoy assistance of between 14,000 and 20,000 Euros to carry out their studies.

New UK Iberdrola Engineering And Construction Division Triples In Size As It Sets Out UK Business Objectives

Iberdrola Engineering and Construction UK has expanded its Scottish operations by completing the process of incorporating 96 members of the ScottishPower Energy Networks team into the newly formed business. A new framework agreement will also see the company carry out all contracted work on high voltage power lines and substations across ScottishPower’s electricity networks in southern Scotland and Merseyside and North Wales.

Simply Green Energy From ScottishPower – Wind Power Giant Launches Certified Green Tariff

ScottishPower, part of the world’s largest wind energy company*, has launched a new green tariff that will allow customers to support renewable electricity generation and make a positive contribution to the environment. The tariff meets Ofgem’s Green Supply Guidelines and has been certified under the new, independent Green Energy Certification Scheme. Called ‘Simply Green Energy’, the tariff will match every unit of electricity used by a customer with an equivalent amount of energy generated from renewable wind sources.

ScottishPower Renewables (SPR), the largest developer and generator of onshore wind power in the UK, nearly doubled its electricity output during 2009, producing just over 1.7 million megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity from its 23 operational windfarms. The rise of 43.8% on 2008 figures meant that the company produced enough clean, green electricity to power the average annual needs of over 375,000 homes.
