PacifiCorp Files For $42.7 million Increase in Oregon Rate Reset
26 March 2001
ScottishPower's US subsidiary PacifiCorp filed a request with the Oregon Public Utility Commission (OPUC) on Friday 23 March to reset rates for approximately three months starting 2 May 2001 which, if approved, would increase overall customer prices by 24% - equivalent to $42.7 million.
The proposed increase is the difference between net power costs currently included in rates and what the Company expects to incur in the period 2 May to 31 July 2001. The increase would remain in force until new power costs are set in a pending $160 million general rate case expected to conclude around August 2001.
In the latest filing, PacifiCorp is also seeking implementation of a Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) mechanism that would track differences between net power costs and power costs reflected in rates with rates periodically adjusted to reflect these actual costs. The rate application submitted on 23 March 2001 aims to set a more realistic starting point for PacifiCorp to use as it tracks the variance in net power costs for future adjustments.
